The Ordinance, among others, requires all food chains, restaurants, supermarkets, eateries and other similar establishments within the City of Makati, to dispose within a period of nine years all of their stocks of plastics, styrofoam and the like that are used as food and product packages and to replace these with environmental-friendly materials such as paper plates, paper bags, paper cups, paper board-food packs and other similar biodegradable materials. The nine-year grace period to comply with the use of environment-friendly materials ended on June 20, 2013.
Compliance with the Ordinance shall be a pre-requisite for the issuance or renewal of business permit for commercial and industrial establishments.
